Window installation, step by step instruction

Installing windows is quite a difficult job, which requires a responsible approach. To do this, it is necessary to follow the instructions clearly, which includes the following works.

Before dismantling the window, you must remove all items from the window sill. The floor in the room is best covered with a film, so as not to get dirty. The old window is removed sequentially:

1. first remove all the valves;
2. we remove the window sill without damaging the opening of the window;
3. we remove ebbs, after previewing how they were fixed;
4. we remove the window box, sawing it with a hacksaw;
5. we dismantle the slopes, and if they are made of plasterboard they can be unscrewed, and if they are plastered it becomes impossible;
6. then remove the insulation and clean the window opening from the debris.

So we removed the old window and stepped closer to installing a new one.

The opening must be carefully prepared and measured. Much depends on the correct measurement. How secure the window will be and how warm it will be. Measure the window so that there are not too large gaps between it and the window opening. A large amount of mounting foam may not be very good for the comfort of housing. The foam has a porous structure and promotes the purging and development of fungi. Therefore, it is not good to clean the opening, it is necessary to make a good measurement of the product.

Installation of a wooden window can be made in three ways:

1. on mounting blocks;
2. on the dowel nails;
3. on the anchor.

In the first case use mounting pads, which are small parts of the board. They are placed under the window from below and from above, after which they have spacer wedges. At the same time, it is necessary to check the level of accuracy of the window by the building level. When the window is exactly pads can be removed, and in their place poured building silicone. In the second case  for the installation of dowels. This is the most versatile option and is suitable for structures from any material. To realize this type of installation in the window frame, drill holes, and the distance from the corners should be 15 - 20 cm. The length of the dowels is calculated by adding the thickness of the window frame, the width of the gap and plus 8 cm.

Mounting the window on the anchor  is the only option with a window opening in the wrong shape. Anchors - special plates for mounting with holes. They are attached to the window frame and doorway. After that they will be disguised as slopes. The window with the anchors is leveled with the help of pads. After that, through the holes in the anchors indicate the location of fastening in the wall with the help of djubiley. After that, the pads are removed and the gap is filled with a heater. After that, you can proceed to the final stage of installing the window.

Window sills can be made of plastic or wood. Therefore, in each case, there are specific features of the installation. Let us consider them in more detail.
Installing a plastic window sill. This is quite simple and does not require special skills. Just everything must be done carefully. The whole installation consists of several stages:

1. cleaning of the installation site;
2. with the help of a level, the window sill is exposed horizontally, wedges can be used;
3. further, the existing slots are filled with foam, the surpluses of which are removed after hardening;
4. the final stage is the installation of special plugs on the sides of the sill and removal of the protective film.

So, it's quite easy to mount a plastic window sill.
Installation of a wooden window sill. This is a bit more difficult to do, because you must choose a quality board for the product. After this, the board is processed:

• the board is struck from each side;
• after you need to give the product the desired shape and make grooves for drainage of condensate. They are made from the back of the window sill with a width of 7-9 mm and a depth of 5-6 mm along the entire length of the window sill;
• after that the board is given the final form and size (the most suitable length of the window sill should be 10-15 cm more than the width of the window opening).

After preparation, you can install it. To do this, a felt treated with antiseptic nails is attached to the bottom of the window sill, which will be in contact with the wall. Next, the board is placed on a quarter of the lower beam of the box and attached to it with long nails. Hats of nails must be chopped off and the remainder of the nail is pushed into the bottom of the block of the window box. Then the window sill is pushed onto the protruding nails. When installing a window sill in a brick house, this is best done using a calc-plaster solution. And it should have a slope of about 2 degrees inside the room. Thus, a window sill is installed from a tree. It's harder, but the beautiful appearance of this is worth it.

Slopes can be made in different ways:

• plastering;
• drywall;
• special plastic accessories.

The easiest and most accessible way   plaster. To do this, thoroughly clean the surface around the window. Further, it is necessary to widen the seams between the wall, the window and the window sill. After that, plaster walls and slopes along the perimeter of the window. Slopes plastering applying a small amount of solution to the surface and waiting for it to dry out the layer. After the procedure is repeated. In doing so, we must try to keep the angle from the window to the edge of the slope. All must be well leveled and allow the solution to stand up. So you can make slopes. Of course, this method is more suitable for houses under construction or in case of major repairs.
Slopes from plasterboard  are quite popular. Usually, a moisture resistant material is used for this. To do this, use an L-shaped profile in which a sealant is applied and a pre-cut sheet of plasterboard is inserted. All the gaps between the wall and plasterboard are filled with mineral wool or other insulation. After this, the slopes can be plastered and painted, giving them an aesthetic appearance.
  Set slopes is not so difficult. Just need to determine the material and clearly follow the sequence of actions.
Set the slopes of plastic is easier.  For this, a sheet of the right size is cut from the PVC panel. After that, it is attached to the slope with liquid nails. If there are voids, they can be filled with foam. But it should be remembered that it is considerably expanding and it is possible to damage the slope. After that, the ends of the plastic panel are closed with special corners, giving a complete view to the entire window.

After the installation of the windows, we do not think about the fact that in time there may be problems, and the adjustment of the double-glazed windows will be required. It's not as difficult as it seems at first glance. Therefore, you can adjust the windows yourself. The most common problem is sagging  this grazing the plane of the frame by the bottom flap. This happens due to the sagging of the leaf under its own weight or when the geometry of the window is changed. To eliminate this defect, we need a hex key. We find on the sash a hexagonal hole (top and bottom), into which the key enters. Adjustment occurs by rotating the key. First twist at the top, and then go to the bottom. It is necessary to monitor the position of the leaf. Another faint adherence of sash  to the window opening. Adherence is regulated by an eccentric, which is connected to the handle mechanism and enters the shaped opening in the frame. To adjust this eccentric to rotate around its axis (you can pliers). Also, the fit can be adjusted with screws on the hinges. They are quite easy to find, because its head is turned towards the room.
