The house, built of wood, in itself is a comfortable and warm home with an optimal microclimate. But this is provided that all possible joints, cracks and holes are carefully fixed and prokonopacheny, and outflow of warm air from the inside is impossible. When building a house from a tree, the owners usually take the warming of the floor and walls very seriously. But as regards the ceilings, their insulation is often neglected. And completely in vain, as the cold ceiling is able to "pump" out of the room more than 20% of the heat. Warm air rises very quickly to the ceiling, cools down, escapes through the smallest cracks, which makes even the most intensive heating ineffective.

What materials are used for insulation of ceilings
Warming ceilings in a wooden house can be both inside and outside, in the attic. Sometimes the ceiling is insulated in a complex way - from the outside and from the inside. Materials for the insulation of the ceiling are selected based on their own financial capabilities and depending on the method of insulation. So, if the ceiling is insulated from the outside, it is very convenient to use the following types of insulation:
- Bulk - expanded clay, shavings.
- Plate - polystyrene foam.
- Porous-fibrous - mineral wool.
- Sprayable - polyurethane foam.
If a wooden house was built quite recently, the finishing works are still in it, then this is the most appropriate time to make the warming of the wooden ceiling minivate, after which you can immediately start finishing the finish of the ceiling. To the wooden ceiling is attached a frame, in the voids of which lay sheets of mineral wool. The frame also serves as the basis to which the finishing coat of the ceiling is fastened - lining, hypocarton, fiberboard, etc. Since the frame carries a certain load, we recommend that you use board edging 40х150х6000.
One of the main conditions for high-quality insulation of the ceiling, regardless of the material used, is the installation of a reliable vapor barrier. As a vapor barrier material, parchment is most often used. Insulating material is stitched between the lags, fastened with a stapler. The overlap between the sheets should be no less than 10 centimeters.
Warming of the ceiling with mineral wool
Mineral wool is a widely used fibrous heat-insulating material. It is produced from waste from the metallurgical industry, glass, and also from volcanic rocks. Manufacturers produce mineral wool in the form of mats or rolls. This material has a very low thermal conductivity, resistance to high temperatures, excellent sound insulation characteristics, and is relatively inexpensive.
But when using this material there are some disadvantages:
- Poor moisture resistance.
- Wet mineral wool is unstable to mechanical damage.
- May cause an allergic reaction when working requires protection of exposed areas of the body.
Warming of the ceiling in a wooden house from the inside
The technology of thermal insulation of the ceiling with mineral wool is quite simple. When the ceiling is insulated in a wooden house from the inside, the order of the work is as follows:
- Installation of vapor barrier. In this case, a conventional polyethylene film can be used. The easiest way to attach it to the ceiling with a stapler with an overlap of 10-15 centimeters.
- Gasket carcass-crate. As a material for the frame is used a wooden bar. It is necessary to fill the bars with a step of about 60 centimeters, since mineral wool rolls often have just this width.
- Lay mineral wool between the bars of the crate. Work is necessary in gloves and glasses. It is also necessary to protect the respiratory organs from the ingress of particles of mineral wool.
- Installation of the outer layer of vapor barrier with a stapler. Joints must be glued with adhesive tape.
Warming of the ceiling in a wooden house outside
When warming the wooden ceiling in the attic, all work is recommended in the following sequence:
- Thoroughly clean the entire surface of dirt and dust.
- Lay overlapping lag sheets of vapor barrier. Attach them using a stapler.
- Lay a layer of mineral wool between the beams. To lay the minate it is necessary so that there are no cracks. The layer of insulation must be at least fifteen centimeters.
Some useful tips
- Warming with mineral wool is preferably done from the outside, as the use of this material can be harmful to health. If it is necessary to insulate the room from the inside, the layer of mineral wool must be carefully insulated.
- If the ceiling is strong enough, then under the layer of mineral wool can be poured keramzit or sawdust.
- The casing for the insulation should be made a little narrower than the sheet of mineral wool - the material will lie tightly in the cells.
- During the work, attention should be paid to isolating any slots, especially in corners and places where the wall is adjacent to the ceiling.
If the attic space is heated and intended for housing, then in this case the role of the ceiling is played by the roof slopes. Insulate them in such a way that the dew point is between the roof and the vapor barrier. To do this, you need to make a gap between them, fixing the vapor barrier on the rafters.
As you can see, the insulation of the ceiling with mineral wool, the price for which, despite the significant rise in price of building materials, remains rather low, a relatively simple task that can be fully accomplished on its own. The cost of thermal insulation of mineral wool ceilings depends on the price of the material, which varies depending on the type of mineral wool and price policy of the manufacturer, the area of ceiling slabs and the cost of thermal insulation works, if they are performed by specialists.
