Welding DC, by converting AC to DC, loses some of its power, but has a heavier design.

Welding semiautomatic machines, depending on the subspecies, can only work on gas, without gas, or combine two types of welding.

If it works without gas, flux wire is used, if it works with gas, a gas cylinder with CO2, with argon, or argon together with CO2 is selected. The gas is selected from the type of material to be welded.

- the voltage of idling varies from 45 to 79 V. A more simple arc arcing and good combustion stability provides a higher voltage. This must be taken into account when choosing electrodes;

- output current, household appliances from 10 to 350 A, professional to 500 A. High current gives more possibilities to the device, since it allows using large diameter electrodes and doing more complicated work. Rutile electrodes work at a lower current, and the main electrodes will work at higher current values;

The diameter of the electrodes is from 0.5 to 6 mm. In general, electrodes are used for 2-3 mm, wire 0.6-1.2 mm is used for semiautomatic machines. The diameter of the electrode and wire directly depends on the thickness of the material to be welded.

When choosing welding for work in everyday life, start from the type of material that you will be cooking.

Determine the maximum output current.

The higher the output current and the operating voltage, the sooner the apparatus will heat up and the thermal protection will work.
