Installation of sewerage in the apartment

Sewer pipes, which have become unusable, cause a lot of trouble for people. They flow and spread an unpleasant smell. To replace such pipes, you can turn to utilities, but repair will require a sufficient amount of money. But you can replace the sewer pipes yourself. This article tells how to calculate and buy the necessary material and tools and how to change old pipes to new ones.

Self-assembly of sewerage is not such a complicated process and anyone who knows how to work with a tool is capable of this work.

First you need to prepare all the necessary material. To do this, you need to know exactly how many water points there are in the apartment. As an example, consider the standard scheme: washing in the bathroom, washing in the kitchen, washing machine, bath and toilet.

After this, it is necessary to put the sewage scheme on the drawing, taking into account the distance between all the points.

For the purchase of materials, the following details must be taken into account:

1. Diameter of pipes. The toilet has a pipe with a diameter of 100 mm, sinks and other devices - pipes with a diameter of 50 mm;
2. The diameter of the siphons of the bathroom, sink, etc. Siphons can have a corrugation with a diameter of 32 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm. The corrugation of the washing machine has a diameter of 20 to 25 mm;
3. It is necessary to raise the pipe to drain the washing machine to a height of 500 mm. from the level of the floor;

For each siphon it is necessary to install a rubber cuff: 50/40, 50/32 or 50/25. It is necessary to purchase a cuff with a diameter of 126/110 mm. for connecting a PVC pipe and a cast iron pipe. You also need to buy a silicone sealant.

Now about the choice of material for sewage installation. All pipes are better to buy from one manufacturer, so that there are no problems of joints and color difference. Quality pipes should not be deformed and bend.

The necessary tool: a drill, a Bulgarian or a hacksaw for metal, a chisel, a screwdriver, a hammer, keys, etc.

Dismantling of old sewage:

• Turn off the water in the apartment;
• Disconnect the hose that supplies water to the toilet flush tank;
• Remove the toilet bowl;
• Break the old sewer: pipes at a distance from the riser can simply be split with a hammer;
• Pipes near the riser should be cut off by a bulgarian or a hacksaw at a distance of 5-10 cm from the socket. It is important not to damage the socket;
• Split and pull out of the socket the remains of the old pipe.

Installation of a new sewage system:

• Insert the rubber cuff into the socket;
• Place the joint with silicone;
• Start connecting pipes.

The first pipe from the toilet bowl with a diameter of 100 mm. The remaining pipes are assembled as in the constructor, they are inserted one into the other. Place joints with silicone. There should be no fractures at the joints, so as not to cause a leakage of water.
