Warming up the loggia with your own hands, options for warming the loggia

Warming up a loggia is not a whim, but a necessity. After all, even a few meters of additional space in the apartment is very important for a comfortable city life. In this article we will touch on such a pressing topic as warming the loggia with our own hands, paying special attention to the foam insulation material.

Warming of walls, floor and ceiling of the loggia with own hands

Today, for insulation of the loggia, a lot of different thermal insulation materials are used, one of the categories of which are those that are made on the basis of mineral wool. From the positive characteristics can be called that such thermal insulation materials are made on a natural basis and the fact that they are distinguished by excellent thermal insulation. From the standpoint of fire safety, a big plus is that they do not burn and do not support combustion processes. Of the negative characteristics of materials made on the basis of mineral wool, it can be called that they are sufficiently moisture permeable. But this problem is solvable by laying any additional waterproofing layer.

To another kind of all the variety of insulation materials, they include insulation based on fiberglass. These materials almost do not differ from those that were mentioned earlier, manufactured on the basis of mineral wool.

Also for the purpose of warming the loggia it is covered with heat-insulating materials made of wood: sheets of plywood and wood chipboard.

Everyone knows a heater such as polystyrene foam. It is also used to insulate loggias - walls, floors and ceilings.

Warming of the loggia with penokplex is a new word in the development of technologies for insulation of premises. This new material is very similar to the polystyrene mentioned above in that it is also made on the basis of polystyrene, but already an innovative method of extrusion.

Penoplex is ten times stronger and thinner than foam, it is characterized by increased water resistance and thermal insulation properties.

This material is absolutely fireproof and environmentally friendly (it is also recommended to be used as insulation of internal premises).

Of its shortcomings, above all, it is worth mentioning the high cost.

Before you begin to insulate the loggia with thermal insulation material, it should be glazed with a metal plate. When using at least a three-chamber profile, this will increase the temperature in it by about seven degrees. Next, you can proceed with the warming of the floor and the walls of the loggia.

To do this, you need to buy a foam with a thickness of not less than 20-40 mm. It is fastened with special plastic "mushrooms" to the walls, ceiling and floor.

Then, at the joints' sites, foam is foamed with the absence of toluene, which dissolves the foam foam and is glued with adhesive tape.

It is important to make a vapor barrier of the loggia. To do this, a vapor barrier and a foamed layer (foil polyethylene film or foamed polyethylene foam 3 mm) fix the joint to the joint on all insulated structures, using polyurethane adhesive or double-sided adhesive tape. Places of joints between vapor barrier layers are glued with metallic tape.

Thermal insulation of the floor with your own hands

The floor on the loggia is insulated by installing a wooden base, or they are insulated with a concrete tie or filled with a concrete screed with electric heating.

Of the heat insulation materials listed above, we do not use mineral wool heaters, and also foam plastic. The best option for floor insulation will be insulation with foam.

Before you warm the loggia with foam, you must align all of its surfaces - floor, walls and ceiling.

Penoplex is laid directly on the floor panel, installing a "warm floor" on them (as recommended by the manufacturer).

From the loggia heating appliances, you can think over several options: a "warm floor" system, electric heaters or air conditioning, designed for work in the cold season.

Whichever method of heating the loggia you choose, you need to start with quality insulation. Only in this case the loggia can become a part of the living space, and the heating systems will work effectively.

Choosing heat insulation foam foams, you can permanently get rid of such an additional source of cold as drafts, as well as from dust and noise, and a new warm room can become an additional room, or a dressing room, or a winter garden or an additional incentive for further creativity.

Technology of warming the loggia

Warming of the loggia is done this way. Initially, all railing and parapets are dismantled, to install a new wall structure. Also seal all seams. Further produce its metal-plastic glazing. The next step is to conduct waterproofing of all surfaces of the loggia, their alignment and warming.

Then they make final finishing works, achieving maximum tightness. If this is not done, it will be impossible to guarantee the preservation of heat throughout the cold period of the year. Heating appliances will not help if the cracks will blow, and the vapor barrier (as well as the waterproofing) will be low.
