An integral part of the pompous and outrageous style is the presence in the interior of the columns. Highly carrying columns deny the neighborhood of the poor interior, surrounding themselves with rich textiles and gilded decor. Expensive and arrogant columns look down indulgently. But the materials of the modern construction industry have taken care of the possibility of creating columns in apartments and houses. To erect a majestic column with his own hand, became accessible, even from inexpensive decorative material.

Columns in the interior, a warrant for sophistication
Ageless and timeless classics of architecture are the columns, processed in section vertical supports, which are elements of the frame and bearing structure of buildings and orders.
Like any supporting element, the classical column consists of a trunk, capitals and a base (a wide upper and lower element - enthysias). Realizing its own importance and being the main popular architectural element, the columns in all ages and almost all structures are given a refined aristocratic appearance. Even a tiny house with a decorated entrance to the columns looks like a fairy-tale palace.
Elements of the order system, sustained in the best traditions of classicism and postclassicism, look great with equally attractive staircases and selected interior design. Any private house with columns is an indicator of the status and taste of the owner. Undoubtedly, the technology of building a house with columns is laborious and long, but the owner at the end of construction acquires a kind of order for sophistication and respectability. Now is the time to take care of creating an interesting interior.
Column Hall in the house or how to enrich the interior
The statement that the columns in the interior are used exclusively for elite interiors can be confidently called erroneous. Why not create a "column hall" in the house with your own hands, all the more so for this. In the arsenal of designers there are numerous column-like columns: colonnades and twin columns, semi-columns on high pedestals.
Therefore, the functional purpose of the columns safely passes into a new quality that determines and sets the tone for the aesthetics of the interior of the living room, the hallway and the facades of the houses.
colonnade
A fascinating prospect from the far away colonnade gives peace and natural lightness. The colonnades are designed during the construction phase, because the load is distributed on their shoulders. For the erection of colonnades the best option is a spacious room of a large area. Small rooms with low ceilings are not suitable for placing colonnades.
original framing - twin columns
Paired columns are a worthy decoration of windows, fireplaces and high wide stairs. Using paired columns there is an excellent opportunity for zoning space of living rooms and hallways. Particularly original look columns paired on the opposite wall from the entrance, visually indicating the boundary of the zones and creating an entrance. Columns in the apartment, combined with an arch, emphasize the isolation of the premises and accent attention to the entrance.
semi-columns of decorative material
But special attention is paid to half-columns, because their erection and installation is simpler and more accessible than solid columns. The installation and installation of semi-columns do not impose strict requirements, as for single stand-alone columns. It is enough to strengthen the half-columns reliably in place.
You can choose half-columns for each style, especially since the industry has established the production of an architectural decor from polyurethane.
Decorative polyurethane is a godsend for designers, allowing incredibly to enrich a simple and boring interior of an apartment or house.
The original form of a column of polyurethane in the interior can replace even an expensive monolithic round column. To distinguish at first glance the material of manufacture can only be an expert.
In addition, a column of decorative polyurethane can become a kind of exhibition stand for mirrors, photographs or paintings.
The unlimited possibilities of a hollow architectural pillar made of plasterboard of round or square shape allow you to hide communications, install aquariums or fireplaces. Halogen or LED lights of the living room with columns in the evenings look attractive and mysterious. Falsh columns and semicolumns can be made from gypsum board or assembled from ready-made polyurethane molds.
The technology of assembly and installation of columns of polyurethane, in comparison with the labor-consuming and costly technology of creating monolithic, is simple.
Column construction technology
monolithic columns
Technology for the construction of monolithic reinforced concrete columns necessarily involves the erection of formwork for foundations under the columns and the trunks themselves. Distinguish formwork with the use of corner elements and shields universal.
Types of formwork for erection
The formwork can be of the following types:
• large and small pieces of wood and metal for rectangular columns
• beam and bolt steel for rectangular
• plastic for round columns
• from standard "Gamma" elements.
The technology of assembling the formwork consists in the connection of shields of two types: embedded (end) and overhead (side). After assembly, the boards are fixed to the design position from the inside using spacers and screeds, outside with the use of stakes slaughtered in the ground.
For example, a standard set of industrial formwork from universal shields "Gamma" allows you to form the foundation of a column of rectangular or square cross-section 200x200 to 600x600 mm in increments of 50 mm.
For the fastening of the boards, the end anchors are used, and two-level struts are used for mounting and aligning the barrel of the column. The estimated height in the assembly can be up to 3 meters. These kits are preferably used for the erection of monolithic columns of a large number of trunks of the same cross-section.
How to install the column formwork is shown here.
For the manufacture of columns of circular cross-section, which are most often encountered when decorating the facades of houses with columns and the entrance doors of private houses, use plastic formwork. The circular section is assembled from elements with a diameter of 300 - 600 mm. The assembly is carried out using plastic locking systems, which allow the connection of round panels by turning by 90 °. For subsequent installation and alignment, use struts.
After preparation of the formwork of the foundation of the column, the barrel axes are marked out. The axes of the foundation and trunk, as well as the internal dimensions of the armature axes, must coincide. Collected boxes for pouring are fixed with crochets.
It must be remembered that when assembling columns it is necessary to carefully measure the position of the foundation and the trunk. Otherwise, the slope or deformation of the column will be unavoidable.
How to make a column in person
A square column can be made of plasterboard, and a round column made of a sanitary pipe with a diameter of 50 cm. A durable material and a product height of up to 3000 mm make it possible to make a self-made column or a couple of columns. The column-pipe is installed in the necessary place of the room, fixing the upper and lower edges into the gypsum cardboard bases.
The length of the plumbing pipe of the required size is wrapped around the height and glued with fiberglass. Then the dried layer is ground and sanded. The final finishing of the marble column is made with the help of Venetian putty. Shpaklevku put a thin layer and polished to the quality of marble.
